The Indian men’s squash team, captained by the experienced Saurav Ghosal, secured its inaugural gold at the Asian Squash Team Championships by defeating Kuwait 2-0 in the final. The victory was sealed by star player Ghosal, who dominated his match against Ammar Altamimi with scores of 11-9, 11-2, 11-3, following an impressive straight games win by Ramit Tandon over Ali Aramezi (11-5, 11-7, 11-4). With Tandon and Ghosal securing victories, the third match between Abhay Singh and Falah Mohammad was unnecessary, as the team had already secured an insurmountable lead.
Having previously settled for silver on two occasions, the top-seeded Indian men’s team justified their status with a commanding performance throughout the tournament. They dominated in Pool A, achieving victories over Qatar, Pakistan, Kuwait, South Korea, and Chinese Taipei, all with a 3-0 margin. In the semifinals, they edged out Malaysia 2-1 to set the stage for their historic gold-winning final.
On the women’s side, the Indian team claimed the bronze medal after a 1-2 defeat to Malaysia in the semifinals. The women’s team secured the second position in Pool B, registering wins against Iran and Singapore with scores of 3-0, but suffered a 0-3 loss to Hong Kong in the preliminary phase.
